What makes The Wicks Insurance Group Different?

Beginnings

Kurt R. Wicks, President of The Wicks Insurance Group, Inc. graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1971. He was recruited as a full scholarship athlete and played quarterback for the URI Rams. Upon graduation, Kurt started his career in the insurance business selling life and health products.  In 1979,  he was recruited by a captive insurance company, where he was promoted to a Management Development Program and eventually assigned to manage numerous sales offices in Connecticut. In 1983, he became Regional Sales Training Manager responsible for new agent training and product introduction for all six New England States.

Transition

Fueled by a passion for team building and helping others, Kurt decided to take a risk and start his own business.  In 1984, he settled in Bedford, NH, where he founded The Wicks Insurance Group, an insurance agency specializing in home, auto, life insurance and financial products.     

Over time, The Wicks Insurance Group grew to 6 agency locations in New Hampshire & Massachusetts and a team of over 40 licensed agents. With a book of business of over $43 million in personal lines premium, Kurt’s agency grew to become recognized as one the best and most productive of its kind while servicing over 35,000 policyholders.

Committed to providing exceptional service, Kurt decided to transition The Wicks Insurance Group to an Independent Insurance Agency in 2022. After partnering with several companies, his agency began to acquire new policyholders beginning in January of 2023. This transition has enabled the Wicks Insurance Group to leverage multiple insurance carriers with diverse product portfolios, giving the flexibility to create customized solutions for clients and policyholders. Our associates’ collective expertise allows them to address customers’ complex insurance decisions.

The Wicks Insurance Group is on its way to becoming one of the fastest growing Independent Agencies in New England. With our team’s insurance knowledge and commitment to excellence, along with our ever-expanding carrier relationships, we are positioned for robust growth in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and additional markets in the future.
